Light Elegance Update: EU TPO Restriction and Our Proactive Response

The European Union is banning the use of TPO (Trimethylbenzoyl Diphenylphosphine Oxide), a UV photoinitiator. This ban includes cosmetic products, such as nail gels. While not considered dangerous, or related to product safety or allergies, the EU is implementing this ban as a precautionary measure.

What’s Changing?

The European Union is banning TPO in cosmetic products, including nail gels, effective September 1, 2025. This restriction applies only to the EU—markets outside of the European Union are not affected.

How Light Elegance Prepared

At Light Elegance, we’ve been ahead of the curve, proactively reformulating our gels well in advance of the ban. Our goal is to ensure nail professionals across Europe can continue to enjoy the same high-quality, safe, and compliant products without interruption.

Here’s how we’ve prepared:

• Reformulated Products
  All gels shipping to the EU are now TPO-Free. While some older packaging may still list TPO (printed before the ban), rest assured the product inside is compliant. All new packaging will reflect the updated ingredient list.

• Updated Labeling
  For efficiency and sustainability, we’ve applied secondary ingredient labels to EU products where necessary. These labels ensure accuracy and compliance without delaying supply or creating unnecessary packaging waste. Please note: these labels should remain on products, as they display the official registered formula for your market.
